Business Spotlight: Atelier D’Ocon
Atelier D’Ocon is one of the newest bridal shops to arrive to Miracle Mile! Located at 88 Miracle Mile, Atelier D’Ocon is the brainchild of Maria D’Ocon.
Hailing from Barcelona, Spain, Maria comes from a family of great creative influence in cinema, art and sewing. She discovered her passion for fashion at a young age and attributes a great source of inspiration to nature, particularly the landscapes of the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees. She pursued her career in Fashion Design at Miami International University of Art & Design. She has had the opportunity to participate in Miami Fashion Week where she received the prize for “Best Couture Dress.”
In February 2017, Maria created Atelier D’Ocon with a dream to create wearable art. Atelier D’Ocon’s artistic mission is to offer elegance, quality and innovation. Each gown is a unique piece of craftsmanship and design and is tailored at their Atelier in the heart of Coral Gables. The process begins with a sketch and hand-made fabrics from Europe, leading to the creation of signature laces carefully sewn together for an impeccable design. The designs go from crepes to silk fabrics and from Chantilly laces to Spanish embroideries, for a bride who wants a sophisticated style while retaining a fresh and natural look. Aside from bridal gowns, Atelier D’Ocon specializes in first communion, baptism, flower girl and custom-made gowns.
“Green Thinking” defines the culture of the company. They invest in “eco-friendly” machinery to reduce energy consumption, 30% of the fabrics are 100% sustainable organic cotton and scraps from previous collections are reused to create a limited edition collection with unique pieces. One of their objectives is to investigate and introduce new materials and techniques in future collections.
The bridal boutique works by appointment to ensure that all customers receive the attention and care they deserve.
Get to know more about the designer! Drawn to her origins, Maria landed an internship at Pronovias, the prestigious bridal house in Barcelona. During her internship, she participated in the preparation and elaboration of the “Pronovias Fashion Show: Once Upon a Time” collection and assists the pattern making team. During her tenure she acquired knowledge and techniques of the Spanish Haute Couture. Furthermore, Maria is one of 9 students selected, out of a pool of 50 USA universities, to launch her eponymous bridal collection at New York Fashion Week.
