Signature Coffee Beverages to Sip in Coral Gables
Most of us are around Coral Gables every day. Whether you’re one of the 50,000 people who work in Downtown Coral Gables or the 761,600 who live within twenty minutes of the area, you aren’t too far from a caffeine blast to keep you up and alert.
Pop downstairs from your desk for a bit of fresh air and cafesito, drive in to meet up with friends over a latte, or hop on the Freebee for an iced coffee – Downtown Coral Gables’ cafes and coffee shops have you covered:
Located below the newly renovated Hotel Colonnade Coral gables, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel Crema is a gourmet coffee shop and cafe with a delicious menu of healthy smoothies, sandwiches, salads and, of course, coffee!
Their coffee menu is smartly divided by 8 ounce, 12 ounce and 36 ounce or one, two and three shot drinks – so that depending on how sleepy you wake up, you can pick the right coffee to open those eyelids right up.
We recommend heading in early because any coffee that you purchase before 2 PM gets you half off of your second coffee until close of that day. That being said, go for a 16 ounce Illy Freddo Espresso to cool you down and wake you up in the AM and then come back for a nice cup of Americano.
If you know Brooklyn, you know Café Grumpy, but you don’t have to be a Brooklynite for the name to ring a bell, Café Grumpy played a role in the HBO’s Girls for a few seasons. Now you can get a cup of joe from Café Grumpy without getting on an airplane; they’ve opened their first outpost outside of NYC right here in Coral Gables.
Located on Ponce De Leon Boulevard, this coffee shop’s interior is a bit industrial and a bit Scandinavian. It’s a cool spot with signature light fixtures and steam-lined design. Recently, they filled their white walls with art by local artists and have posted notice that they’re looking for more participants to showcase their artwork.
You can’t skip the cold brew based slushies from Café Grumpy. This signature beverage is perfect for shaking up your usual coffee routine!
Our local Starbucks has moved! With their new location, a chic white building on the corner of Miracle Mile and Salzedo with large windows and comfortable outdoor seating, comes a new concept from the Seattle-based brand. The new Starbucks location has a Miami-style ventana – so that you can order your coffee from the sidewalk and sit outside to enjoy it alfresco.
It’s not cooling down anytime soon but that doesn’t mean we have to ignore the fall, so we recommend an iced Pumpkin Spice Latte; all the flavors of fall but perfect for sipping in Miami’s humid September. Pumpkin Spice Latte is already back in season so you can go get a taste of fall today!
Pasión del Cielo
At Pasión del Cielo every beverage is a signature beverage. They source their coffee beans from the world’s best coffee producing regions and you get to pick which bean you’d like for your beverage based on aroma, flavor, body and acidity. After you pick your beans, they’re ground on the spot just for you and brewed into your beverage.
At this homey coffee shop, a local favorite for curling up with a laptop on their comfortable couches and chairs, you can pair your coffee drink with an empanada or a pastry.
The coffee shop’s Latin flair should inspire your order, get a cortado and ask for the barista’s bean recommendation.
Graziano’s Market in Coral Gables is much more than a coffee shop – you can shop for wine, visit their butcher, order breakfast, lunch or dinner, pick up prepared foods and stock up on gourmet groceries – but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a coffee while you do it.
Behind the glass cases of gleaming pastries is a pretty robust coffee menu that tastes all the better when paired with an alfajor or croissant. It’s never the wrong time for a coffee, so whether you’re there for their popular happy hour and sipping wine or its early morning and you’re still trying to wake up, this airy, comfortable market is a must-visit.
We recommend the simple espresso. Served with a tiny shortbread cookie and a small glass of sparkling water, it’s a European coffee experience that you can’t get anywhere else in town.
Coral Gable’s only Australian café takes their coffee as seriously as the Aussies. This espresso bar offers your favorite coffee beverages, brewed to perfection, alongside their unique toasts like the Smashed Avocado, with avocado, feta, lime, basil, and roasted mushrooms served on Zak the Baker bread.
We’d go with the Chemex. While this pour-over method may take a little longer it’s worth the wait. The Chemex is in the MOMA permanent design collection for a reason, it’s a beautiful piece of design that is just as much function as it is form.
We should mention that while we can never pass up a cup of coffee, it’s even harder to pass up an affogato – vanilla ice cream topped with a shot of espresso – and no one is judging if you go ahead and pair some a scoop with that espresso.
Capital One Café
A bank might not seem like the obvious place to pop in for a coffee and open up your laptop to get some work done, but Capital One is rethinking what a bank is and what it should do for the community with their Capital One Café concept. Now open on Miracle Mile, the Capital One Café offers Coral Gables a space to sit down and stretch out, engage with the community, sip a cup of Peet’s Coffee and maybe get some banking and financial advice while you’re at it.
Capital One Café hosts events conducive to slowly sipping your hot or cold coffee and hanging out for a bit like Board Game Saturdays and Dominoes and Cappuccinos.
Get the coconut cold brew, the perfect Miami coffee, and enjoy the free WiFi. Additionally, Capital One cardholders receive 50% off handcrafted beverages and free coffee during their daily happy hour.
Fixpresso is bringing a new café concept to Coral Gables – “great coffee, fixed price.” Everything at Fixpresso, now open on the corner of Miracle Mile and Ponce de Leon Boulevard, is $2 including their coffee, sandwiches, pastries, sweets and even healthy eats that are designed to appeal to you no matter the time of day.
